Luther D. Hudson (64 years old), beloved brother, uncle, and friend entered eternal rest on March 10, 2026. After a myriad of health issues Luther passed away at a skilled nursing facility. He was born on May 10, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois where he grew up in Darrow Homes with his mother and six siblings. He was the sixth of seven children. He graduated from Wendell Phillips High School in 1979 and subsequently joined the military.
Finishing his military service, Luther worked in the retail industry but later found his niche when he decided to pursue and received his certification as a nurse's aide. Working in different healthcare facilities he was able to become skilled at monitoring vitals, mobility support, ADL, and documenting changes in patients' conditions. Additionally, he worked part-time as a front desk associate at a senior living building which allowed him to demonstrate his qualities of being approachable, supportive, making others feel comfortable, and willing to initiate social interactions.
Luther frequently was the most spirited individual at gatherings with his family and friends; he was truly a social butterfly. There was not a person he did not meet where they did not feel unfamiliar to him where he considered them a friend upon meeting them. Luther displayed his personality via his attire, wearing the newest and trendiest streetwear and often to commemorate each holiday with a new outfit including shoes and a hat to complete the look.
A quote from Clara Ortega sums up the family bond Luther held firm with his siblings, "To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs, and joys. We live outside the touch of time."
Luther was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Myrtle Hudson and his youngest brother, Tony Hudson. He is survived by his two sisters, Wanda Newton and Jacqueline Hudson, his remaining three brothers, Leonard Hudson ( Kiyoko), Jerome Hudson (Etora), and Louis Hudson (Renice), his niece LaTosha Raines (Matthew), his nephews, Rocko Hudson, Donald Doyle (Nedra), Sean Newton, Christopher Hudson ( Amanda), Jeron Hudson, his two great nieces, Gianna Doyle, Ariana Doyle, his three great-great nephews Jerone Hudson Jr. and Jabari Hudson, and Ronin Hudson, his two great-great nieces Ta'mia and Ta'nia Hudson, a host of relatives and friends.
Luther was a unique soul who's worth and potential was more than he imagined; he will be greatly missed.
A memorial service for the interment of ashes will be scheduled for a later date to be held at Concordia Cemetery 7900 Madison St, Forest Park, IL 60130.
