In Loving Memory of Lynda Vivian Romanoff Farias
January 26, 1941 – January 1, 2026

Lynda Vivian Romanoff Farias was born on January 26, 1941, in Alameda, California, to Jeanette (Borneman) Romanoff and Alex Romanoff. She passed away suddenly on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, in Upland, California.

Lynda spent her childhood in Alameda and graduated from Alameda High School before attending San Jose State University. The youngest of four children, she grew up in a lively and loving Romanoff household. She was preceded in death by her brothers Nick Romanoff and Ted Romanoff, and is survived by her sister Katreen Romanoff of Pahrump, Nevada. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Bee Romanoff of Benbrook, Texas and Judy Romanoff of Ashland, Oregon.

Lynda was a devoted mother to her sons and cherished her role as a grandmother. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph Farias (born 1961) and is survived by her son Philip Farias (born 1964), her daughter-in-law Jennifer (Vogel) Farias, and her beloved grandsons Stefan Farias (Melissa Ward) and Casey Farias (Alwail Ring). She is also survived by several cherished nieces and nephews and by dear friends, including the Henson family of Upland, California, who are part of the Farias Family and a meaningful part of her life.

Lynda was a Fremont, California resident for over 30 years. After spending two years in Italy with her son Phil and family, Lynda relocated from the Bay Area to Southern California in 1998. She made Upland her home for more than 25 years, where she built a life rich with friendships and love.

Lynda was a woman of remarkable creativity and devotion to her many crafts. She was an amazing seamstress, an expert knitter and crocheter, with a vast and varied collection of yarn always at the ready for her next project. In recent years she lovingly created and donated hundreds of handmade hats to cancer patients, bringing warmth and comfort to many. She also adored jewelry and fashion, delighting in creating a beautiful ensemble each day — always finished with her signature accessories.

Lynda’s eye for detail and love of beauty found expression in everything she touched — from wrapping paper and fabric to ribbon, paint, and handmade creations. Whatever she worked with, she had a gift for making something striking and special.

Lynda had a lifelong love of animals. She had a special affection for otters and roosters, which often found their way into her art and the things she loved. Morgan the corgi is the Farias family dog, and Lynda took special delight in his antics — happily buying him toys and watching him gleefully tear them apart.

Lynda will be remembered for her artistry, her kindness, her love of animals, and her devotion to family. She will be dearly missed.

Per Lynda’s wishes, her ashes will be scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego, California. A Celebration of Life is planned for later this year.
