Lynn was known for her presence. She was always laughing, always joking, and genuinely enjoyable to be around. She was sincere, caring, and generous with her time. In her later years, she devoted herself to arts and crafts, finding joy in creating and in sharing what she made with others. She also gave her time freely to help others explore their own creativity, offering encouragement, patience, and practical support. If someone needed help—creative or otherwise—she did not hesitate. People felt welcome around her because she made them feel seen.
Family was central to Lynn’s life. She was devoted to her parents, Grace and Donald Cherry, and to her sister, Patricia Praet, whose death preceded hers by two months. She maintained especially close bonds with her cousins, nephews, and their families, staying actively involved and deeply connected across generations.
She worked in banking, a career that suited her reliability and attention to detail. She earned an associate’s degree and took pride in doing her work well. Outside of her profession, Lynn was deeply involved in her community, particularly through Rotary, where service was expected and delivered. Helping others was not something she discussed; it was something she did.
Lynn was predeceased by her parents, Grace and Donald Cherry, and by her sister, Patricia Praet. She is survived by her nephews, Norman Donald Praet and Christopher Praet, their families, and by her cousins, who were an enduring and important part of her life.
Lynn leaves behind a legacy measured by her caring for people. She made life lighter, kinder, and more connected for those around her.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on February 21, 2025, at Genesis United Methodist Church in Cary, NC.
