Lynn Ellen Tomasetti
September 17, 1947 - February 28, 2026
Lynn Ellen Tomasetti, 78, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, after a lengthy illness, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Born in Meriden, Connecticut, and raised in Northampton, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of George and Marion Boyd Tomasetti.
Lynn graduated from Northampton High School, Class of 1965, and attended the University of Vermont, where she was a proud member of the Tri Delta sorority. She later earned her MBA from Western New England University and went on to build a successful career in the insurance industry, working for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company and Connecticut General Insurance. Throughout her career, she was known for her professionalism, intelligence, and steady dedication.
For the past 18 years, Lynn made her home in Venice, Florida, where she embraced retirement and the many friendships that filled her life there. She loved to travel and cruise abroad with friends, host lively dinner parties, and sit down for a competitive game of canasta—often with a glass of good red wine nearby. She was an avid reader, a theater enthusiast, and a lover of live music, especially performances by the local band RPM.
Some of Lynn's happiest moments were the simplest: floating in the warm Gulf waves on her noodle, gathering with friends at the Venice Jetty to watch the sunset, or sharing laughter over a meal. She also worked part-time as the office coordinator for Venice Area Beautification, Inc. (VABI), a role she truly enjoyed and where she appreciated being part of the local community.
Lynn is survived by her son, Brett Mattson, and his wife, Eilish, of Nashville, Tennessee; her brothers, Dr. Boyd Tomasetti of Denver, Colorado, and Dr. David Tomasetti of Columbine Valley, Colorado; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish her memory. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Marion Tomasetti.
Lynn will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and her deep love for family and friends. With a radiant smile and a laugh that could fill a room, she had a natural gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome.
A celebration of Lynn's life will be held in Venice, Florida, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Venice Area Beautification, Inc. (https://vabi.org/donate/).
