Lynn Jones Wallace, beloved mother, grandmother, and lifelong adventurer, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born in New Jersey on October 22, 1935, to Donald M. and Isobel Y. Jones.

Growing up in Short Hills, New Jersey, Lynn shared a close bond with her younger sister Geraldine. She developed a deep love for the arts, and her vibrant creativity flourished.

During World War II, the Jones family was relocated to Washington State, where Lynn's passion for horses and the outdoors took root. It was here, surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, that she developed a lifelong connection to nature. After the war, the family returned to New Jersey.

Lynn attended the Far Brook School in Short Hills, which her parents had founded. Her natural talent in the arts led her to the Rhode Island School of Design, where she expressed herself through sculpture. Over the years, Lynn created many beautiful pieces, one of which was famously stolen and later recovered from a riverbed, a testament to both her creativity and the resilience she embodied.

During her summers, Lynn worked as a relish girl at the Stockton Hotel on the Jersey Shore, where she met her future husband, John CM Wallace. Their romance blossomed quickly, but not long after they met, John was sent overseas to Germany with the U.S. Army. Upon his return, they married and settled in Orange, NJ, and later moved to Madison, NJ, where they raised their four daughters—Anne, Sally, Melissa, and Lisa.

In 1973, Lynn and John made the bold decision to relocate to Chatham, Massachusetts. It was there that Lynn's love for the arts and design transformed into a flourishing career. She started her own interior design business—driven by a deep desire to create beauty in the spaces around her.

Lynn's time in Chatham was filled with walks on the beach with the dogs, cocktails on the deck as the sun set, and countless family gatherings. It became the central hub for her growing family, where they came together to celebrate life, share stories, and create lasting memories. Her love of travel took her and John around the world, enriching their lives and deepening their bond.

In the early 2000s, Lynn and John retired to Osprey, Florida, where she volunteered at the Sarasota Hospital and for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, while also pursuing her love of bridge with several local groups.

When John passed away in May 2019, Lynn moved back to Massachusetts to be near her family as she navigated the challenges of dementia. Though her memory began to fade, Lynn continued to recognize and cherish the visits from her daughters and loved ones. She remained the fifth sister among her girls, always loving and supportive, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and sons-in-law.

Through to the end, Lynn was known for her radiant smile and fondness for bright lipstick. Her warmth was felt by all she met.

Lynn was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Isobel Jones, her husband of more than 60 years, John CM Wallace, her sister Geraldine (Appleyard), and her brother-in-law William Appleyard. She is survived by her daughters Anne (Eric) McNulty, Sally (Daniel) Howard, Melissa (Raymond) Flynn, and Lisa Wallace, as well as her eight grandchildren: Andrew, Abigail, and Kathryn Howard; Madeleine and Colin Flynn; Isobel, Lydia, and William Ouellet as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private internment and memorial will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your local food pantry in Lynn's honor.

Lynn will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the warmth, creativity, and unwavering love she brought to her family and all who knew her.
