June Spadoni peacefully passed away surrounded by family at home on March 9th, 2026. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ken; loving son Enrico, his wife Arwen and grandsons, Calvin and Enzo; her brother Kevin Cavanaugh, his wife Esther and their sons Ian and Elliot; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.

Mae June Spadoni (Cavanaugh) was born December 11, 1944 in Kingsville, Texas where her father, Lt. Commander Calvin Cavanaugh, served as a fighter pilot in the US Navy during WWII. It was there that her father met and married the love of his life, Mae June Huber. June’s family moved to Millbrae then San Mateo. She attended and graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1963. It was there she met her lifelong friends Phyllis, Shirley, Janice, Jill and Michelle, as well as Judy and her special friend since the 2nd grade, Tom.

After High School she worked with Pacific Bell in Burlingame as a long distance operator where she became friends with Judy Spadoni. Judy introduced June to her brother Ken and ultimately the two married on April 1st, 1967 (April Fools Day). They began married life in San Jose. Their only son, Enrico, was born the end of 1967. Ken’s corporate job took the family to Harrisburg, PA for 4 1/2 years, then to Beaverton, OR before finally settling in Healdsburg, CA in 1978.

June always had her traveling shoes on and enjoyed adventures. She loved to walk and as part of the “blister sisters” walked many miles a day. She was well known for being a wonderful cook and entertainer - throwing dinner parties, holiday gatherings and introducing newcomers to Healdsburg.

A convert to Catholicism, she embraced her faith and devoutly attended mass. She joined the Ladies Guild at St. John’s Church, worked with the St. Vincent Paul Society in procuring clothing for the less fortunate, was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation and loved her church community. She also loved her involvement with the Dry Creek Neighbors, a group of ladies who raise money for local scholarships. She truly enjoyed being part of the group and the friendships she made with its members.

In 1999 she had a large tumor removed from the center of her brain. She received a miracle in surviving the surgery. She fought a myriad of after effects from that surgery and faced them with great courage and little complaint. In spite of her ongoing health issues she remained positive. She loved life, her family, her friends, her faith and her church. Shortly before her passing she was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease (CJD) a rare degenerative neurological disease with no treatment or cure which is often misdiagnosed until late stage.
