Mae Ellen Dillon was gathered into heaven on February 15, 2026. Born Mae Ellen Milligan on August 20, 1941 in Rochester, NY, she grew up with five high-spirited brothers: Frank, Stuart, Cecil, Carl, and Wesley. Despite being the smallest and the only girl, Mae always kept them on their toes!
While attending college, Mae met the love of her life, David Baker Dillon. Their marriage began the day after Mae graduated and lasted 62 years. Mae was dedicated to serving God, her church, and her students. During her career in education, she earned two MA degrees - education (UMCP) and school counseling (JHU). She taught Sunday school, and led multiple youth groups, Vacation Bible Schools, and Bible studies throughout her life. She is survived by her beloved husband, David Baker Dillon, her four children: Amelia Krasnansky (Brian), David Dillon (Lisa). Helen Dillon (Stan Gutowski), and Renee Bos and her eight grandchildren: Alyssa, Brynna, Ian, Isaac, Natalie, Dillon, Dawson, and Brinkley.
Truly, Mae earned her nickname "Sparky" by being constantly in motion with a mind ceaselessly whirling, and a passion for living her faith. Shakespeare's greatest truism may have been, "Though she be but little, she is fierce."
Services will be held on April 11, 2026 at the Riderwood Chapel in Silver Spring, MD. If you would like to honor Mae's memory and faith, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Riderwood Benevolent Care Fund https://donations.erikson.com/s/?com=rwv&fund=bcf
