Man Chong

Man Young Chong, born on March 16, 1949, in An Yang, South Korea, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in Orland Park, at the age of 76, after courageously battling Lewy body dementia.

Man was the beloved husband of Soon Ae Chong and a devoted father to his two sons, David Chong (Mandy Chong) and Thomas Chong (Mary Darwin). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Ava Chong and Charlotte Chong, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by four sisters, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chin So Chung and Kan Nan Chung.

Born and raised in South Korea, Man carried with him the values of hard work, humility, and deep love for family throughout his life. After beginning his journey in An Yang, he later built a life in the United States centered around faith, dedication, and family.

Man worked as a skilled craftsman building office furniture, a trade that reflected both his steady hands and his patient, meticulous nature. He took pride in creating something lasting with his work, a quiet reflection of the way he built his life and family.

Outside of work, Man found great happiness in the simple joys of life. He loved camping and fishing, finding peace in nature and contentment in the stillness of the outdoors. Whether casting a line into the water or sitting around a campfire, those moments brought him true joy. He also loved singing, often filling gatherings with warmth and laughter through song.

Family gatherings were especially dear to him. Surrounded by loved ones, he was happiest, always wearing his signature smile. That smile, steady and reassuring, will be remembered by all who knew him. His gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family will remain his lasting legacy.

In a final act of generosity and compassion, Man chose to donate his body for medical research, a decision that reflects his quiet strength and desire to help others even after his passing.

May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who mourn his passing.

Visitation and Service will be held on March 8, 2026, at Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st St., Orland Park, IL 60462. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the service beginning promptly at 4:00 PM.

고인은 사무용 가구를 제작하는 숙련된 장인이셨으며, 이는 그의 차분하고 세심한 성품과 성실함을 잘 보여주었습니다. 그는 자신의 손으로 오래도록 남을 것을 만드는 일에 큰 자부심을 느꼈으며, 이는 곧 가정과 삶을 성실히 세워온 그의 모습과도 닮아 있었습니다.

일터 밖에서는 삶의 소박한 기쁨 속에서 행복을 찾으셨습니다. 캠핑과 낚시를 사랑하셨고, 자연 속에서 평안과 쉼을 누리셨습니다. 물가에 낚싯줄을 드리우거나 모닥불 곁에 앉아 있는 시간은 그에게 큰 기쁨이었습니다. 또한 노래 부르기를 좋아하셔서, 모임 자리마다 따뜻함과 웃음을 더해 주셨습니다.

가족 모임은 그에게 특히 소중한 시간이었습니다. 사랑하는 이들에게 둘러싸여 있을 때 가장 행복해하셨고, 언제나 특유의 환한 미소를 지으셨습니다. 그 미소는 든든하고 따뜻한 기억으로 모든 이들의 마음에 남을 것입니다. 그의 온유한 성품과 따뜻한 마음, 그리고 가족을 향한 한결같은 사랑은 오래도록 기억될 소중한 유산입니다.
