Marcia Jean (Roberts) Julian, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away March 11th, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by family and in the exceptional care of the staff at Sunterra Springs Springfield. Marcia was born July 25th, 1949, in Hobart, Oklahoma, and grew up in the rural farming and cattle community of Snyder, Oklahoma. Prior to her senior year in high school, Marcia and her family moved to Green Forest, Arkansas, where Marcia graduated from Green Forest High School in 1967. After graduating high school, Marcia attended Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, from 1967 to 1971, and was involved in Sigma Alpha lota music sorority. Upon graduation in 1971, she earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree with Instrumental Emphasis. In 1990, she furthered her education by earning her Master’s of Education from Drury University after taking several years of night classes.
In 1971, Marcia began a 37-year long music teaching career. She began her music teaching career in the Liberty Missouri School District followed by teaching in the Pleasant Hope Missouri School District before beginning a 25-plus year teaching career in the Springfield Public School system. Marcia retired from teaching in 2009. She also spent many years working part-time at Painter’s Corner in Republic, Missouri, and was an invaluable asset to their printing business and built lifelong relationships with those she worked with.
Through the 1970s and 1980s, Marcia was involved in producing, raising, and showing poultry and registered Angus cattle. She was also involved in the Springfield area Sweet Adelines organization for many years. Marcia served the Lord as a long-time member of South Haven Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, where she had years of involvement in both choir and hand bells. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she was heavily involved in the lives of both of her sons and was a very active member in Nixa High School’s sports and band boosters’ programs throughout the 1990s and is a current band booster of the Clever High School band program.
Marcia was probably most proud of her grandchildren (Who knew her as "Ga" or "GaGa") and was deeply involved in their lives and in attending every activity they were involved in. Whatever they were involved in, you could count on her being present to support them all the way.
Marcia had a love of travel and had many friends that she traveled with. Her many trips took her all over the United States and overseas. She also enjoyed attending David Phelps concerts, professional rodeo events, and spent many years horseback trail riding with her sister and their riding group. She always shared her adventures with her children and grandchildren.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents Thomas (Tink) and Betty Jo Roberts of Green Forest, Arkansas and her sister, Dianna Mullins and brother-in-law, Don Mullins of Springfield, Missouri.
Marcia is survived by two sons and their families. Son, Ben Julian (1980), his wife Tabitha Julian, and grandson, Branyon Julian of Clever, Missouri and granddaughter Audriana Read of Springfield, Missouri.
