Margaret Giroux Cathrall, 88, of Westborough, MA, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 4, 1938, in Swanton, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Blanche Giroux. She was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, Vermont.
Margaret was the beloved wife of Sargent Cathrall, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. As part of an Air Force family, they enjoyed a life rich in travel and adventure, living in many places before settling in Shelburne, Vermont. After raising their children, Margaret and Sargent made their home in Halfmoon, New York. There, she built a career at WXXA-TV, where she was known for her warmth and dedication, beginning as a receptionist and later working in accounting.
In addition to her devoted husband, she is survived by her loving daughters, Kimberly Hobbs and her husband, John, and Kelly Singer and her husband, David. She was predeceased by her cherished son, Kevin Cathrall.
Margaret was a doting and proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Ashley Hobbs and her daughter, Addison; Karri Crossman and her children, Weston, William, Lillian, and Cameron; Ryan Cathrall; Megan Badger and her son, Owen; and Emily, Jack, Kevin, and Kimmy Singer.
She is also survived by her dear sister, Irene Shappy, and was predeceased by her brother, Leslie "Butch" Giroux. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Margaret found joy in nature, animals, and dancing. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her kindness, and her love of Christmas, which she made especially magical for her family.
Services will be held privately.
