Margaret Boger Green

1926 - 2025

Margaret Jefferson Boger Green died peacefully on November 25 at Brookdale Carriage Club in Charlotte. She was 99 years old.

Margaret was born January 29, 1926, to Catherine Ivey Boger and Daniel Bruce Boger.
She grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Central High. On January 20, 1945, she married William Garland Green. After the war, they settled happily in Greensboro where Margaret stayed busy raising their four children.

The family returned to Charlotte in 1965 to reside on Stanford Place. After her children left home, Margaret began working at Belk Customer Service. She enjoyed the independence of working outside the home. After twenty years with Belk's, she retired at the age of 80.

Margaret loved her community, her neighbors, her home, and her friends. She was fiercely devoted to her family. They will always remember her love of animals, her lovely "old Charlottean" accent, and her independent spirit. She embraced any project with creativity and determination. She was an exceptional cook and entertained with style and grace.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Garland, and her sisters, Elizabeth Hanner and Jacqueline Clontz. She leaves behind four children: Garland (Sally), Ashley, Merrill (Lisa), and Sherrill (Martha). Also mourning her loss are six grandchildren: Andy, Jeff (Vivian), Charlotte (Joe), Bridget (Ryan), Gracie, and Claire, and five great-grandchildren: Alex, Samantha, Kamryn, Hudson, and Hayden.

Family and friends will celebrate her life at 2:00 pm on Friday January 30 at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. If you wish to honor her memory, please send a gift in her name to the Humane Society of Charlotte.
