Margaret (Meg) Rekstis (nee Matosky), 63, passed away on January 30, 2026, after a year-long battle with stage 4 breast cancer.

Meg was born in Philadelphia PA on April 19, 1962, to Patricia and Leo Matosky. She spent her childhood years in Richboro Pennsylvania, where she grew up with her three brothers Richard, Paul and Matthew Matosky. She graduated as an English Major from Temple University in 1984 before attending Widener University School of Law to get her JD.

While working in family law in Philadelphia, Meg met Frederic T Rekstis, who she married in 1987. They moved to the suburbs of Philadelphia where they had their two eldest daughters, Emily and Lindsey, before moving to the Cincinnati suburb of Loveland where they had their youngest, Charlotte (Charley) Rekstis.

Although Meg was vocal that her proudest achievement was her three girls - cheering them on at every soccer game and moving them into every dorm room - she also found immense joy in her work at the Maryland Department of Labor. She first served as a Special Examiner for the Board of Appeals in 2010, then the Chief Administrative Officer before being appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Division of Unemployment Insurance.

Meg was a resilient woman, a stubborn advocate, a supportive mother, and a thoughtful friend. She loved reading books about strong women and yelling at the TV while watching Real Housewives. She always raved about a different festive cocktail of the moment - a Pimm's Cup after her 60th birthday celebration in New Orleans or mojitos after a week at her favorite place, OCNJ. Her loud, infectious laugh will be one of the many things that is missed - something all four Rekstis girls share.

A celebration of life will take place at Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge in Downtown Annapolis on February 21, 2026 from 11:00am-3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation: https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/ in Meg's name.
