Maria Laboy

Maria Laboy, 85, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 10th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 9th, 1940, in Villalba, Puerto Rico.

Maria was raised in a humble and hardworking family and was one of three children. Her parents worked the land as sugar cane and produce farmers, and from a young age Maria learned the meaning of sacrifice and perseverance. Despite the hardships she faced early in life, Maria grew into a woman of great strength, resilience, and compassion.

In search of greater opportunities, Maria first moved to Philadelphia and later settled in Boston, where she built a life centered around faith, family, and hard work. She was known for her generous heart, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Maria’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always placed the needs of others before her own. Her home was filled with warmth, guidance, and unconditional love, and she leaves behind a legacy of strength and devotion that will live on through her family.

Maria is survived by her children Mayra Maribel Santiago, Rosa Santiago, Clarivel Santiago, Manuel Santiago, Miguel Laboy, and Lucy Laboy. She was predeceased by her children Nilda Santiago, Santos Laboy Jr, Carmen Melendez, Olga Santiago, and Norma Santiago

Maria will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Wake hours will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church), located at 1545 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02120.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18th, at 10:00 AM at the same location, the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church). Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, located at 427 Cummins Hwy, Boston, MA 02131.
