Marianne had a deep love of travel. She traveled across the United States several times once driving to Alaska to bring her daughter to college, a memory she always fondly remembered. She also traveled throughout the Caribbean, and to many places around the world including Egypt, Ireland, England, France, Iceland and Italy. Iceland held a special place in her heart and remained one of her favorite destinations and somewhere she hoped to visit again someday.

Marianne was an excellent swimmer and had a lifelong love for the water. She cherished family vacations, especially camping trips with her children when they were young and later spending time together at the beach. She had a special love for the Florida Keys, where the turquoise-blue ocean, her favorite color, brought her great peace and happiness.

Marianne was an avid and passionate reader who loved books of all genres. She was very artistic and had a gift for decorating her home. She appreciated fine art, great food, and especially loved cooking and sharing meals with her family. She had a special love for collecting artistic prints and giclées from around the world, each piece a reminder of the places she visited and the beauty she found in different cultures. Her creativity also led her to a career in floral design. She attended Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston, Massachusetts, and went on to own and operate The Petal Pusher in Springfield, Massachusetts, and The Enchanted Florist in Northfield, Massachusetts.

Marianne graduated from Ursuline Academy and Cathedral High School in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1966. She also attended Bay Path College, continuing her lifelong love of learning. Later, she pursued a career in nursing, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Smith Vocational School in Northampton, Massachusetts, in 1991. She became a Registered Nurse in 1992 after attending Greenfield Community College. Marianne focused her nursing career on life care, helping and comforting many people through their end-of-life journeys. She continued in nursing until retiring in 2020 to spend more time with her family in North Carolina and with loved ones throughout the country.

One of Marianne's greatest loves was her love for animals. She cherished many devoted pets throughout the years. She leaves her cherished cat Ellie, her dogs Mary Jane and Willy, and many treasured grand dogs and grand cats.

A private service will be held at a later date in North Carolina and Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake Norman Humane Society, 2106 Charlotte Hwy., Mooresville, NC 28117, supporting animal welfare efforts.
