Marie E. Brillard (née Libby), age 92, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, in Pittsfield, Maine. Born on July 29, 1933, in Thorndike, Maine, Marie lived a long and meaningful life rooted deeply in her community and family.

She was the daughter of Mary E. Libby (Gardner) and Guy N. Libby and grew up alongside her siblings Freeman Libby, Madeline Hotham, and Clyde Libby, who preceded her in death. Marie carried with her the values of her upbringing—resilience, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for history—which she shared generously throughout her life.

Marie was the proud mother of five children: Nathan, Anthony, Allyson, Bridgette, and Tracey. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who were touched by her warmth and stories.

A true historian at heart, Marie had an unmatched passion for the history of her town. She could talk for hours about its people and past events with vivid detail and enthusiasm. Her home was filled with carefully preserved photographs and newspaper clippings—each one a treasured piece of the story she so lovingly curated. As the keeper of her family's history, she ensured that memories were never lost but instead passed down through generations.

Marie found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved puzzles and word searches that kept her mind sharp and engaged. She enjoyed rock collecting and could find beauty in anything, even dead trees. Yard sales were one of her favorite weekend adventures; no one ever knew what unique treasure she might bring home next. Her culinary preferences were as distinctive as her personality—she made unforgettable tuna sandwiches loaded with onion and insisted on burgers cooked to a crisp.

Her presence was a constant source of comfort and knowledge to those around her. Whether sharing stories from decades past or offering a listening ear over lunch, Marie had a way of making people feel connected—to each other and to their roots.

Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In honoring her memory, we will continue to add our own pictures, articles, and recollections to the collection she began so many years ago. Through this living archive of love and remembrance, we will carry forward the wisdom she so generously shared.

May Marie's memory bring comfort to those who knew her and inspire future generations to cherish their history as she did so faithfully.

There will be a celebration of life held in the spring for close friends and family.
