Windham- Marie (Slater) Myhaver, 73, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on January 17, 2026. Born on October 21, 1952, in Portland, Maine, she was the oldest daughter of Joyce and Adelbert Slater. Growing up as the oldest of six girls in a family of seven children instilled in Marie a deep sense of responsibility and devotion to her loved ones. She graduated from Portland high School in 1971 and embarked on a long and successful career in office administration. Her dedication and work ethic led her to a fulfilling role as a Property Manager, where she worked for the same company for an impressive 34 years before retiring in 2017. In 1973, Marie married Joel Myhaver, the love of her life. Together they built a life centered around family and shared values. Their marriage spanned an incredible 52 years, marked by unwavering devotion to one another and their two daughters, Rachelle and Marybeth. Even as Marie's health declined in recent years her bond with Joel remained steadfast. His presence brought her immense comfort during challenging times. Marie had a passion for sunshine and flowers, which she expressed through her love of gardening. Her gardens were vibrant displays of beauty that often featured her favorite color- pink. She also cherished vacationing in the Caribbean, where she could bask in the warmth and tranquility of tropical surroundings. Marie's greatest joy came from being surrounded by children. She delighted in her role as "Aunt Ree" to many nieces and nephews and later embraced the cherished title of "Grammy" to her grandsons, Jackson and Garrett Holt. Her face lit up with joy whenever she was with them or other young children. Marie is survived by her daughters: Rachelle Holt (Cory) and Marybeth; her beloved grandsons, Jackson and Garrett Holt; and her siblings, Tedd (Judi), Joyce, Betty, Michaelene DiDonato (Dennis), Donna, Lynne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents, Joyce and Adelbert Slater. Poignantly, Marie survived Joel by just five days- a testament to their profound connection that endured until the very end. Marie's memory will live on through the love she shared with those closest to her. May her legacy bring comfort to all who knew her. A Celebration of Life for both Marie and Joel will be held on March 29, 2026, 02:00 PM, at The Little Meeting House, 719 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, Maine
