Marie Elaina Willis (Hyland), aged 79, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026 in Goodman, Wisconsin, while visiting her daughter, Heather Willis. She had spent the past several years living in Justin, Texas. Born on July 21, 1946, she grew up in Portland, Michigan.
Marie graduated from Portland High School and furthered her education at Lansing Community College. She dedicated many years to her career as an Office Manager for Community Mental Health in Lansing, where she was deeply committed to supporting mental health initiatives.
Beyond her professional life, Marie was passionate about interior decorating and crocheting, often sharing her talents with those around her. Her skill was notably recognized when she won First Prize at the Ionia County Free Fair for a meticulously crocheted king-size bedspread. Marie also enjoyed spending summer vacations on the shores of Lake Huron, where she developed a lifelong love for beach glass hunting.
Additionally, Marie was an active member of her church and cherished giving back to her community.
Marie is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Stepheni Willis and Heather (Willis) Coffman (Chad); granddaughters, Bailey Willis and Caitlin Coffman; and sister, Vicki Weller (Robert). She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Polly Hyland, and her sister, Cheryl Herp.
Marie's life was marked by her unwavering kindness and the joy she found in simple pleasures, like spending time with friends and family. Her legacy of warmth and generosity will continue to inspire those who knew her.
