Marilyn Lea Mitchell,76, formerly of West Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at hospice on February 27,2026 in Florida with her loving daughter Jaime and son-in-law Brian by her side.
Born on November 18, 1949, in Milford, Connecticut, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of the late Lawrence E. Mitchell and the late Edna Brackett Mitchell. She was raised in Milford alongside her siblings and remained deeply connected to her family throughout her life.
Marilyn was a devoted mother to her four children, Jeffrey Ceslik, Kevin Ceslik, Jaime Ceslik (Brian), and the late Patrick Ceslik. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to her four grandchildren whom she cherished deeply, especially Abbigail and Cody, who is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps - a source of great pride for her. She enjoyed spending as much time as she could with Skylar and Aiden Ceslik.
She is survived by her siblings William Mitchell (Jennifer), Alison Ignatowski (Ronald), and Rodney, and was predeceased by her brother Richard Mitchell. Marilyn was also predeceased by her former husband, Gene Ceslik, and her beloved son, Patrick Ceslik. Marilyn is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
Marilyn began her working career in retail at Woolworth's in Milford, Connecticut, and later dedicated many years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Golden Hill and four corners nursing homes in Milford, where she cared for others with compassion and kindness.
Above all, Marilyn was a dedicated and loving mother who devoted much of her time to her children's lives. She rarely missed a school function, sporting event, or activity and found great joy in supporting and cheering them on. She also enjoyed volunteering at school events, always eager to be involved and present for her family.
Marilyn found great joy in aviation and shared a special bond with her father through their love of planes and the many hours they spent flying together.
She also had a deep affection for birds and cared for many cherished feathered companions throughout her life.
Marilyn was known for her wonderful sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. Bringing laughter and smiles, to all who knew her and she will be remembered for her love of family, her gentle spirit, her humor, and the pride she took in her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind many loving memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be held privately by the family.
