Marilyn MacPherson Monk

1944 - 2026

Marilyn MacPherson Monk was born on March 17, 1944, in Spokane, Washington, to Don and Betty MacPherson. She passed peacefully on March 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love, family, and the simple joys that shaped her days.
Marilyn was the oldest of eleven children, a role she embraced with a sense of responsibility, warmth, and quiet leadership. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Bill Monk; and her sisters Kay and Alice.

On April 11, 1970, Marilyn married Bill, beginning a partnership marked by devotion, humor, and shared purpose. Their marriage lasted 49 years, a testament to their deep commitment and the life they built together. Together they raised three children — Wilson (Darcy), Jessie (Randy), and Kristy (Rick) — who were the pride and joy of her life.

Marilyn found comfort and happiness in the everyday pleasures that made her uniquely her. She loved the familiar twang of country music and the cheerful charm of The Lawrence Welk Show. She was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour's western novels, drawn to stories of rugged landscapes and frontier spirit. And she was well known for her dedication to crossword puzzles, a pastime she approached with patience, curiosity, and a sharp mind.

Her family continued to grow in ways that brought her immense joy. She was a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren — Wesley, Kyle, Peter, Joseph, Elijah (Koral), Abigail, and William — and her heart expanded yet again with the arrival of her two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Gabriel.
Marilyn's life was defined by the relationships she nurtured and the warmth she extended to everyone around her. Her presence was a steady comfort, her kindness a constant gift, and her love a foundation her family will carry forward.
Though she is no longer with us, the kindness she shared and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
