Marilyn Jane Munoz, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Modesto, California, on March 6, 2026.
Marilyn was born in Turlock, California, to Albert and Evelyn Munro on February 27th, 1940. She was raised in Hughson and graduated from Hughson High School in 1958. Marilyn was formerly married to Felix Munoz of Turlock, and together they raised three children: James Munoz of Modesto, Karen (Munoz) Hickey of Modesto, and John Munoz of San Marcos. Marilyn worked for Tri-Valley Growers in Modesto and retired after 25 years in 2008. She was a member of Teamsters Local Union #948.
In her earlier years, Marilyn became an avid reader, which took her on journeys all over the world, and she enjoyed camping and fishing. In her retirement years, she loved collecting and making costume jewelry. She also enjoyed collecting beautiful artwork and porcelain dolls. She enjoyed going to her favorite gambling establishment, Black Oak Casino, with her daughter Karen and traveling with her friends. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her partner, David Jones.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, James (Alison) and John Munoz (Kay), and three grandchildren, Stephanie Munoz, Michael Munoz, and Justin Funk. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Evelyn Munro, daughter Karen (Munoz) Hickey, and her granddaughter Nicole Funk.
A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Tuesday, April 14th, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
