Marilyn Sue Pendarvis, affectionately known as Sue, passed away on December 24, 2025, in her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 78. Born to Lora Sherpy (née Roberts) and Henry Sherpy on July 5, 1947, in Kansas City, Sue lived a life full of love, generosity, and warmth, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew her.

Above everything, Sue cherished her role as a mother to her two daughters, Julie Nead (née Pendarvis) and Jennifer Pendarvis. She chose to become a stay-at-home mom, dedicating herself fully to raising her daughters and being their loudest cheerleader throughout life. She proudly served as a room mother during their grade school years and always considered motherhood her greatest joy and accomplishment.

Sue’s life was marked by a deep commitment to caring for others. After graduating from Raytown High School in 1965, she began her professional career as a beautician after earning her cosmetology license from the Independence College of Cosmetology. Her skills and passion for beauty brought joy to many, but it was her role as a caregiver that truly defined her. She devoted much of her life to nurturing those around her, including caring for her niece, Stephanie Blaine, and her beloved great-nephew, William Blaine Hadel, throughout his childhood.

Sue enjoyed gardening and found peace in nurturing nature. She loved cooking and baking, delighting in sharing homemade meals with family at the dinner table. She adored animals and always had a pet or two throughout her life. An avid supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, Sue could be found cheering on her team every game.

In her younger years, Sue loved singing around the piano with family. Her cooking and baking became the stuff of family legend, especially the Christmas Eve dinners she hosted for decades. Sue especially loved Christmas — listening to Christmas music, decorating the house, and enjoying the scent of a fresh tree glowing with colorful lights and decades of collected ornaments. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing when she was younger, showcasing her creativity and skill in every piece she made.

Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Lora Sherpy; her father, Henry Sherpy; and her brother, Charles Sherpy. She leaves behind her cherished daughters, Jennifer Pendarvis and Julie Nead (née Pendarvis), as well as her son-in-law, Kenny Nead Jr. Together, they will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

Sue’s passing was due to complications during a heart procedure, but those who knew her understand that her heart was always in the right place — with her family, in her kitchen, and wherever laughter could be shared. Her spirit will continue to cultivate love and joy in the hearts of everyone she touched.
