Marino D. Martello (April 19th, 1939 - January 1st, 2026) will be remembered as a man of deep character, quiet strength, and genuine kindness. He touched the lives of many through his compassion, loyalty, and unwavering presence for those he loved. His life was a testament to the importance of family, hard work, and treating others with respect.
Marino had a way of making people feel seen and valued, whether through a thoughtful word, a warm smile, or simply by being there when it mattered most. He carried himself with integrity and grace, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Family meant everything to Marino. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Roseanne F. Martello, and a proud father to his four children: Doreen Martello Blits (John Blits), Richard Martello (Darlene Martello), Denise Gurney, and Dawn Mattiace (Dirk Mattiace). He was also a loving grandfather to twelve grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to seventeen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Beyond his devotion to family, Marino leaves behind an extraordinary professional and personal legacy. He began his career as a heavy construction worker with Gallucci Brothers, later advancing to Con Edison, where he dedicated ten years of service. He went on to serve the New York State Public Service Commission, beginning as an inspector and advancing to Northeast NYS Commission Supervisor, reflecting his leadership and expertise. In 1970, Marino moved to Long Island in pursuit of a better life, where he and Roseanne built a home and embraced a cowboy lifestyle, complete with a ranch house and three-quarter horses. While maintaining his role as an NYS Commissioner, Marino and Roseanne opened the iconic nightclub "The Sting," which rose to become Long Island's number one disco club, as well as managing a bowling enterprise, including the 108-lanes called the "Bowl Away" in Queens, New York. After retiring from state service, Marino and Roseanne relocated to upstate New York (Binghamton), where he became a supervisor for NYSEG. Never one to slow down, Marino later founded MDR Consulting, earning worldwide respect as a highly sought-after natural gas pipeline consultant, known for his knowledge, integrity, and dedication to excellence.
We could write a book on this man about how many lives he has touched and was always willing to help anyone that crossed his path. He was always willing to help. He never said "No" and was always there to lean on. There will never be another Marino Martello. He will forever be loved and missed, but he is now with his one true love Roseanne (passed 6/16/25).
