In Loving Memory of

Marion Adeline Bugge (Hiepler)
November 23, 1928 - December 26, 2025

Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Marion Adeline Bugge was born on November 23, 1928, and grew up on a farm in Springbrook, North Dakota. She often reflected that even during the Depression years, her family managed well and did not go without. She graduated from high school in nearby Williston, North Dakota, and went on to attend Concordia College in Minnesota, where she earned her Bachelor's degree.
After college, she met Daryl Bugge of Sanish, North Dakota. They were married and together raised four children. The family first lived in Williston before moving to Casper, Wyoming. While her children were growing up, Marion devoted herself to her home and family, teaching piano lessons and raising toy poodles. She had a lifelong love for animals and found joy in caring for her pets.
In the 1960s, the family moved to Seattle, Washington, where Marion became secretary at Rich Whitman Private School. She was an active member of Glendale Lutheran Church, participating in women's groups, singing in the choir, and performing with the Sweet Adelines singing group.
Marion was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved cooking, sewing, and crafts of all kinds. Whenever a new fashion trend appeared, she was inspired to create something special. She had a deep love for plants and gardening and was a member of her local garden club. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends in her neighborhood club. An excellent cook, she delighted in trying new recipes and attending cooking classes—much to the enjoyment of her family. She especially loved entertaining and gathering family and friends for holidays and special occasions.
Later in life, Marion joined Daryl in the real estate business. After several years as a realtor, they became owners of Strout Realty in Shelton, Washington, which later became Coldwell Banker. She worked as a realtor and co-owner until retiring at around age 70. Even while managing a busy career, she always found time to organize gatherings and nurture friendships.
In retirement, Marion and Daryl moved to the Jubilee retirement community in Lacey, Washington, and spent winter months at Silveridge community in Mesa, Arizona. She especially loved the warmth and sunshine of Arizona.

Marion was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daryl; her daughter, Cheryl (Simanis) of Seattle; her parents, Gustav and Anna Hiepler of Williston, North Dakota; her sisters Gertrude (Bjella), Hildegarde (Penfield), Ruth (Homuth), and Shirley (Syverson); and her brother, Rev. Orville Hiepler.

She is survived by her children Lori (Johnson) of Olympia, Washington; Jerry Bugge of Bellevue, Idaho; and Joan (Bort) of Des Moines, Washington; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many dear nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held on April 16 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1515 Harrison Avenue NW, Olympia, Washington.
