Marjorie Nell Comfort

Marjorie Nell (Glemming) Comfort was born on July 19, 1925 in Norfolk, Va. She died peacefully on February 19, 2026 in Chesapeake, Va.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Truman David Comfort, her parents Nellie Francis (Gallup) and Charles Glemming, her brother Vernon Leigh Glemming, and her sister Vivian Jeannette (Glemming) Cross.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth David Comfort (Barbara) of Nelson County, Va. and Stephen Lee Comfort (Robin) of Chesapeake, Va., her grandchildren Jennifer Underwood (Kenny) of Richmond, Va., David Comfort (Kasey) of Ojai, Ca., Adam Comfort of Harrisonburg, Va., Emily Woodburn (Michael) of Washington, D.C., and John Coble (Hillary Schwering) of Ontario, Canada; plus 6 great-grandchildren.

Before retiring, Nell was a civilian statistician at the Naval Safety Center in Norfolk, Va. She thrived on being "in the hot seat". After retiring she enjoyed golf, traveling, playing bridge and dominoes with her friends, entertaining on holidays, and working her crossword puzzles. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), Norfolk Chapter and the Order of the Eastern Star.

The family would like to thank the staff at Commonwealth Senior Living at Cedar Manor and at Heartland Hospice for their care in her last years.

Nell's celebration of life will be at Great Bridge United Methodist Church, 201 Stadium Dr., Chesapeake, Va., on March 17, 2026, at 11 am, with a gathering to follow.
