Marjorie Jo Garner of Denver, Colorado died peacefully January 13, 2026 in her home following a battle with cancer.

Marjorie was born in Mount Vernon, New York to Herbert Garner and Carol Hobart Garner. She attended Roger Williams College and California College of Arts and Crafts before settling in New York City for a career in fabric design working for Dan River Mills. She later relocated to Denver working as an interior designer for Gallun Snow, Bennett Wagner and Grody and Lockheed Martin.

Marjorie had an indomitable spirit. Creative, feisty, stubborn, generous, and always up to do new things. Marjorie was adventurous, traveling near and far with an open and curious mind and lifelong embrace of learning. When Marjorie was studying Aikido at the Dojo at Domo, she traveled with fellow students to Mongolia.

Marjorie brought her creativity and resourcefulness into her love of gardening bringing to life a once barren backyard into a beautiful garden haven for friends, birds and insects and her beloved rescue Pomeranian Milli who passed August 2024. She loved making things, whether it was repurposing found objects for her garden, designing jewelry, or artfully creating cute finger puppets to hand out for Trick or Treaters. Her interests were varied and extensive. Marjorie loved volunteering for the Denver Film Festival which she did for many years. She was a great companion for exploring Denver from new restaurants, art shows and events and just plain walking Denver’s neighborhoods.

Marjorie had a close circle of friends. In her final six months of life she repeatedly said she was really lucky to have such great friends, but they all felt lucky to have her as their friend.

She is survived by her sisters, Wendy Garner Kronholm (John Kronholm) and Beth M. Garner, nephew Benjamin Kronholm, and her companion Philly, a senior Pomeranian
and a large circle of close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in late spring. Location, date and time to be announced on Caring Bridge.

Donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders, World Central Kitchen or a favorite local animal rescue.
