Marjorie Shelor McKnight

1928 - 2019

Marjorie Shelor McKnight, in spirit, departed this world for her heavenly home on June 12, 2019. Family members were by her side when the Lord called her home.

Marjorie was a woman of Christian faith and she lived her life according to her favorite Bible verse: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths'' (Proverbs 3:5.6). Throughout her life she held an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and as she faced the end of her life, it was this faith that enabled her to have peace as she anticipated worshiping her Lord and Savior along with having a happy reunion of family members.

Marjorie was born on April 22,1928, in Philipsburg, PA, to Paul Grant Shelor and Jane Rachel Casher Shelor. She was a 1946 graduate of Brownsville High School, Brownsville, PA. While in high school, Marjorie worked for the G.C. Murphy Company and after graduation, she worked as a telephone switchboard operator for the Bell Telephone Company. On April 14,1948, she married David McKnight
at the Central Presbyterian Church in Brownsville, PA. Together they had six children: David (Linda); Avis (with whom Marjorie resided) (Dave Brown); Kevin (Sonya); Judith (Rick Miller); Wesley (Carol); and Eliza Jane.

Marjorie had a well-lived life and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She took pride in being a homemaker and caring for her family. Marjorie enjoyed laughter, bird watching, reading, crossword puzzles, western movies (especially John Wayne movies), and traveling. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Dunkard in Dilliner, served as a trustee, and sang in the
choir.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother (Paul Grant Shelor, Jr.), and her sister (Avis Elizabeth Shelor). She was the last of her immediate family. Marjorie was also preceded in death by her husband, and her youngest child (Eliza Jane).

In addition to her children, Marjorie is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She loved her family and was happiest when with them.

Marjorie requested a private service. Her family celebrated her life on June 14, 2019, at the Kish-Fabry Funeral Home, lnc.,19 Legion Street, Republic, PA. Pastor Rick Miller, her son-in-law, officiated the 2 p.m. service. Interment followed in the Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA, where Marjorie was laid to rest between her husband and her daughter.
