Marjorie Kohn Thomas, 72, of Winthrop Massachusetts passed away peacefully Friday March 27 of pneumonia. Margie was born on January 9, 1954 in Newark, New Jersey to Gus and Joanne (Newman) Kohn. She grew up in Sao Paulo Brazil and then Stamford Connecticut. Margie earned a B.A. from Antioch College in Ohio and a Master's degree in English from the University of California.
Margie lived in San Francisco for many years after college and also NYC for many years, and eventually moved back to the Boston area after traveling extensively in Europe and Israel. Her career was as an editor at Ms Magazine and PC World before she retired. Margie is survived by her brother Richard Kohn and his wife Cynthia of Winchester, Massachusetts, and her 5 nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Christine, Sarah, Cate, and Alex. She is predeceased by her brother Steven and his surviving wife, Gwen Kohn.
Margie had a love of music and played guitar extensively throughout most of her life. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her many friends from all over the world.
A private burial will be held for the family.
