Mark McKiernan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026 at the age of 72, at home surrounded by love.

Born on May 6, 1953 in Akron, Ohio, Mark lived a life defined by strength, deep love for his family and friends, and kindness that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He was the kind of man who always showed up to help others.

Above all else, Mark cherished his family. He shared a partnership with his wife, Maureen, built on love, loyalty, and 52 years of shared memories. He was a proud and loving father to Elizabeth Taylor and Colleen (Matt) Christianson, offering guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support. Being a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he took great pride in being Addison, Johnny and Miles's Popo.

Mark was known for sense of humor, his story telling, cooking, generosity, love of helping others, artist and creative talents, and love of music. He found happiness in creating and building new things, entertaining, giving to others and time on the water.

Mark faced his recent cancer reoccurrence with courage and grace. His family is deeply grateful for the care and compassion shown by his medical team at Regions Hospital and the HealthPartners Cancer Center, Lakeview hospice caregivers, and all who offered love, prayers, and support during this time.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen, daughters, Elizabeth and Colleen, son-in-law, Matt, grandchildren, Addison, Johnny, Miles, his sister Patricia Zubres and brother John (Diane) McKiernan, many brother and sister-in-laws,
nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Jeannette McKiernan, his in-laws, William and Charlotte McEvoy, brother-in-law, John McEvoy, son-in-law Marcus Taylor and nephew, Nick Vashro.

A Celebration of Life honoring Mark will take place on May 9th from 3:00-7:00 at the Minnesota Boat Club (Raspberry Island, 1 Wabasha St S, St Paul, MN 55107). To honor his life and legacy, the family invites those who wish to consider a donation to The Sacred Transition (www.thesacredtransition.org). Flowers may be sent to Maureen.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
