Marla F. Kinnard Parrish

Marla was born March 16, 1964 to James Davis Woods, Sr. and Gladys Woods in Gary, Indiana. She confessed at an early age and was baptized into the New Mt, Moriah M.B. Church family.
Marla graduated from West Side High School in Gary, IN in 1982. She attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. Marla then earned an Associate Degree in Fashion Design from Ray-Vogue College of Design in 1985.
After college she launched a fantastic career in Fashion Design which took her to San Diego, CA; Atlanta, GA; and Dallas, TX. Marla was also a manager for Fashion Fair Cosmetics at Marshall Fields and Macy's department stores .
She put on fashion shows in Northwest Indiana and was a Professional Make-up Artist. She also danced in a Dance Troupe.
Marla was an amazing, adventurous woman whom we will miss. She was preceded in death by: her brother Robert Woods; grandparents John (Maggie) Fleming; Kaola Brooks; mother-in-law, Arnetta Parrish.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband, LeAnder Parrish, Gary, IN; 2 sons, Armone (Briana) Parrish, Greenwood ,IN, and LeMar Parrish, Gary, IN; brother, James D. Woods. Jr., Highland, IN; mother, Gladys Woods, Gary, IN; father, James D. Woods, Sr., Dyer, IN; father-in-law, Rev. Maurice Parrish; 2 granddaughters, Chloe and Calia Christian; 1 grandson, Pharoah Parrish; Aunts, Uncles, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Service Saturday December 20,2025 11:00a.m. at New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church 1917 Carolina St. Gary, In. Professional Services Rendered by Powell Coleman Funeral Home.
