Marsha Morphis Barenis

Marsha Morphis Barenis, 72, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on February 11, 2026. She was born on April 17, 1953, in Greenville, Mississippi, to parents Marshall Ray Morphis and Helen Sumrall Morphis. Marsha was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Katherine Morphis Adams. She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Barenis and Amy Barenis.

Marsha spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Greenville, Mississippi. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, and taught piano for many years. She was the co-owner of Barenis Music Company for over fifteen years with her former husband, Ludis Barenis. Later, she spent several years as a cashier at Wal-Mart, where she brought smiles and laughter to those who came through her line. At the age of 64, Marsha moved to Clearwater, Florida, to retire and be close to her daughter, Elizabeth, of St. Petersburg, Florida, where she continued to be an unwavering support for Elizabeth's achievements as a professional artist.

While Marsha's passion for music and sweet personality made her a beloved fixture in the community, her biggest role in life was being a mother to her special-needs daughter, Amy. Up until the day she passed, Marsha kept Amy by her side, always caring for her and ensuring Amy's happiness above all else.

Marsha's fun and vivacious spirit brought immeasurable joy to those who knew her. She was a very passionate person and lived her life to the fullest, valuing time with her daughters most of all. She will always be remembered for her loving and giving nature, and for making the world a brighter, more beautiful place.

A private memorial will be held.
