Our cherished wife, sister, aunt and cousin, Marsha Broussard Smith, peacefully passed away February 14, 2026. She had a heart of gold and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

She was the first born to Courtney and Betty Jo Broussard on February 7, 1949 in San Antonio. She attended John Marshall High School and Southwest Texas State University. Here she met and fell in love with Richard Smith, and they married in May, 1976. They had almost 50 years together, living in both Austin and New Braunfels, as well as spending time at their lake houses at LBJ and Lake Tippecanoe in Indiana. Family get-togethers, water skiing and boating were a big part of her life.

Marsha was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2020. Even though Alzheimer's had a grip on her, Marsha had Jesus. Her faith was strong and we are rejoicing in her journey to heaven to reunite with so many loved ones.

Marsha is survived by her husband Richard, her sisters Sharlene (John) Edmonds and Debbie (Roy) Horn. She was a step mom to Ryan Smith (Sallie) and a Mamaw to their son Bowen. She was an aunt to Josh, Cody, and Shelly Horn and a great-aunt to their children. Also survived by special cousins, Bill (Nancy) Saunders and Betsy Saunders. We thank the caregivers at Grand Brook New Braunfels for their love and care for Marsha.

A Celebration of Life is planned for March 4, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at The First Baptist Church of New Braunfels, 733 W. Cross Street, New Braunfels, TX 78130. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's and Neurodegenerative Diseases, 4940 Charles Katz Drive, San Antonio, TX 78229.
