Martha Ann Everidge, born Martha Ann Alford on February 14, 1940, in Ocilla, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026 at the age of 85.
Martha Ann's life was a testament to quiet strength, unwavering faith, and boundless love. She was known to all simply as "Grandma" and became a symbol of warmth and welcome to everyone who knew her. She knew no stranger. With open arms and an open heart, she made each person feel seen, valued, and loved.
Martha Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Thomas Everidge Jr, known as "Tommy," and by her grandson, Devin Malloy.
She is survived by her three children: Cynthia (Steve) Gillis, Tom (Carmen) Everidge, and Craig (Tammy) Everidge; her eight grandchildren; and her eleven great-grandchildren, and her sister Jean Burns, all of whom were the joy of her life.
She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome, loved, and at home. Her heart was open to all, and she loved people deeply and without condition.
To know Martha Ann was to witness a life rooted deeply in faith. Her love for Jesus Christ was not merely professed. She trusted the Lord in every season of life through trials and triumphs alike and gave Him praise with a grateful heart. Her faith wasn't loud or boastful; it was steady and sincere, radiating through every interaction and gesture.
Her legacy is woven into the simple yet profound comforts she offered so freely: her famous sugar syrup with biscuits and hot chocolate; the soothing touch of gentle back scratches; the reassuring presence that made everything feel right in the world. These small acts spoke volumes about who she was—a woman who gave endlessly without expecting anything in return.
A celebration of life will be held on February 14, 2026 from 2pm - 4pm, honoring what would have been her birthday, at LongBridge Clubhouse, located at 5171 Bowman Road, Macon, Georgia 31210. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate a woman whose love extended far beyond her family and into everyone she met.
