Martha Perez, 74, of Yucaipa, California, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025. Fittingly, she heard one last joke—and the laughter that followed—before taking her final breath. Born Martha Meyer on December 1, 1950, in San Pedro, California, Martie was the daughter of Robert and Helen Meyer. She graduated from San Pedro High School in 1968 and went on to build a life filled with love, joy, and fulfillment.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Perez (February 2023), and her youngest daughter, Jessica (October 2004). Their memory remained a guiding light in her life, inspiring her love, courage, and enduring joy. Martie is survived by her daughters, Rikke and Sarah; her cherished grandchildren, Tristan, Tyler, and Jessica (daughter of Sarah), and Hannah and Zoe (daughters of Rikke); and her siblings, David Meyer, Christine (née Meyer) Irmer, Phil Meyer, and Paul Meyer.
Martie and Carlos were married on April 25, 1976, and together they built a home in Yucaipa that reflected their many gifts, talents, and passions. Their loving relationship was truly one of a kind, bringing out the best in each other—including in their shared venture, C&M Trucking. For decades, their home was filled with love, laughter, and more animals than a small zoo. Martie devoted many years as a supervisor at Patton State Hospital, where she left a lasting impression on colleagues through her humor, compassion, and empathy.
Martie was a free spirit whose life could easily have been a bestselling story. Strong-willed, fiercely determined, and endlessly caring, she embodied a rare combination of courage, intelligence, and humor. Her warmth, quick wit, and infectious laughter brightened every room she entered, and she had a remarkable gift for lifting spirits even on the toughest days. She offered hope and encouragement to all who knew her. Martha lived her Christian faith through everyday acts: love freely shared, care for the vulnerable, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Martha's life was a testament to love, laughter, and loyalty. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former coworkers, and all who were blessed to know her.
