Martha Ruth Camp Radcliffe ("Marcie") passed away on January 8, 2026. Born in Newnan, Georgia, on January 7, 1944, she was the daughter of Howard Edmond Camp and Betty Miller Camp Johnson. She graduated from Newnan High School, attended the University of West Georgia and enjoyed a long and rewarding career in nursing.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her siblings, Melvin Miller Johnson and Nancy Johnson Blasingame. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles W. Radcliffe; her daughters, Rev. Dr. Claire Manning Ripley (Todd), Ashley Manning Merrill (Searing), and Anesa Radcliffe Darling; her grandchildren, Katherine Ripley Zelenka (John), Caroline Camp Merrill, Anne Alexander Merrill, Lane Barnett Merrill; Tanner Charles Barnes, (Rachel), Kailin May Marie Barnes, Jospeh Tyler Nelson, and Rylan Charles Nelson, and her two great-grandchildren, Lucy Gillian Zelenka and Lukas Manning Zelenka.
Marcie had a zeal for life and dearly loved her family. In her younger years, she was an avid reader and a walking history book. She had a remarkable gift for making the stranger feel welcomed and taught her daughters to carry on this important practice. Throughout her life, Marcie served in numerous community organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as Regent of the Alfred Moore Chapter in Southern Pines, North Carolina, and as President of Whispers, a women's philanthropic society in Whispering Pines, North Carolina.
Marcie cherished her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and fondly remembered her Sunday School teachers at First Presbyterian Church in Newnan, Georgia, who had a profound impact on her young life. She later became a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Most recently, she was a member of Christ Community in West End, N.C. Marcie now rests in the eternal presence of her Savior, embraced by God's perfect peace and enduring love.
A worship service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. in Belle Meade Chapel, located at 100 Waters Drive, Southern Pines, North Carolina 28387. A visitation and light reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice community of your choice.
