A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country honorably during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was discharged as a Corporal, with three combat service stars, an American campaign ribbon and medal, WWII ribbon, battle star and medal, and a rifle carbine marksmanship medal. He went on to serve with distinction as a municipal judge in six different towns for 25 years, and as an attorney with Cohn & Burger, Esqs. for over 60 years, earning the respect of colleagues and the community he served through his integrity, fairness, and dedication to justice.
He was deeply involved in civic and fraternal organizations. In recognition of his contributions to the community, he was named Man of the Year in 1976 by the Paramus Junior Chamber of Commerce, an honor of which he was especially proud.
