Martin Allen “Marty” Clark, age 64, passed away on January 9, 2026, in Redding, California, following injuries sustained in a tragic accident. He was born on March 13, 1961, in Red Bluff, Tehama County, California.
Marty spent most of his life in Shasta County and the surrounding areas, where he became known as a steady presence in the community. He was a graduate of Anderson High School and began working at a young age—something that defined him for the rest of his life.
A lifelong laborer with a strong work ethic, Marty mastered a wide range of trades. His work included glass cutting and installation, construction, flooring, landscaping, vehicle repair, and ranching and farming with livestock. He often juggled multiple jobs at once and was respected for his efficiency, practical knowledge, and willingness to help wherever needed. Earlier in life, he also served as a volunteer firefighter, reflecting his commitment to helping others.
Marty took particular pride in his later work maintaining a large ranch property in Whitmore, where he created a beautiful outdoor space complete with ponds and animal areas. His love for landscaping and building was evident in every detail, and he found genuine joy in creating and maintaining what he built.
Outside of work, Marty appreciated life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid horseshoe player and enjoyed fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, rock music, and fast cars. Fishing was especially meaningful to him—something he shared with his daughter Gerilyn since her childhood, and in later years with her husband Alan, creating lasting memories. He also enjoyed playing darts, horseshoes, Wii, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
Marty was known for his warm spirit and steady positivity. Those who knew him remember that he rarely let anything dampen his mood. His daughter Gerilyn recalls never hearing him raise his voice or speak unkindly about anyone—something that left a lasting impression. His lifelong friend Joseph Smith, who had known Marty since kindergarten, shared that Marty never spoke ill of others, a quality he found increasingly rare and deeply admirable.
Marty is survived by his father, Joe Allen Clark; his mother, Joyce Jean McMaster (John); his brothers, Dale Clark (Liz) and Rodney Clark; his children, Gerilyn Clark-Lunceford (Alan), Darren Clark (Amber), and Joann Jimenez (Roger); and his grandchildren. He is also remembered by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, two stepbrothers, two stepsisters, and many cousins, with especially close bonds shared with his cousin Wade and Aunt Elaine.
His circle of close friends included Joseph Smith, Tracy Urban, Matt, Todd Preasly, and many others whose lives were touched by Marty’s kindness, generosity, and loyalty. His best friend Tracy shared that her life will never be the same without him and that there will always be a void where Marty once stood.
He was preceded in death by Linda Clark, his father’s wife.
It was Marty’s wish to be cremated, with a small gathering of his closest family and friends to later scatter his ashes.
At this time, Marty did not have life insurance. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates expressions of condolences and support. Donations may be made to assist his family in honoring his memory through the cremation services provider:
