Martin Gonzalez Bravo was born on November 14, 1962 in Centro Medico Nacional Distrito Federal in Mexico. He passed away surrounded by his loved ones on April 11, 2025, at the age of 62. He was cremated and his urn remains with family. Martin loved his family and children. Family was very important to him. He was predeceased by his mother Carmen Bravo, his father David Gonzalez, and his brother Emilio Gonzalez. He is survived by his siblings: Oscar Gonzalez Bravo, Beatriz Gonzalez Fraser, Marcos Gonzalez Bravo, Juan Gonzalez Bravo, and Sergio Gonzalez Bravo. He leaves behind his children, Walter Gonzalez-Smith of West Haven, CT and Stefany Gonzalez-Smith of New Haven, CT. As well as one grandchild, Melvin McCoy. Other family members he leaves behind who he loved dearly are his nieces and nephews: David, Ivonne, Norma, Emilio, Gerson, Irvin, and Nadia.

Martin was part of the Mexican military and was well educated. He was highly skilled in several areas, including but not limited to: carpentry, construction, project management, auto repair, sports, and realty. His son Walter remembers his dad teaching him Basketball and never letting him easily win to really learn the game.

He was a great friend and had a huge heart. He helped many in the community secure jobs and homes throughout the years. Martin was known for his quick wit, a man who showed he cared through action over words, and highly organized. He loved working alongside his best friend, Mario, at Mario’s Auto Mechanic Shop. The guys at the shop were not just his team but also his family.
