Martin "Marty" Thomas Remore passed away after a knockdown drag out fight with Parkinson's disease (you should see the other guy). As kind as he was tough, Marty never met someone he wouldn't help or a dog he wouldn't pet.
Marty was born and raised in Tenafly, NJ and played tight end on their state champion football team during his senior year. He graduated in 1966. He later attended Moravian University where he helped pay his tuition with a sales job in "amateur botany." He took a sabbatical from college to help his widowed mother out, because that's just the kind of guy Marty was. This resulted in him being drafted during the Vietnam War. After honorably serving his country during a war he vehemently opposed, Marty returned to Moravian to finish up his bachelor's degree in psychology. He chose psychology because that was the only building still open when he returned late to campus from a road trip on the day he had to declare a major. In the immortal words of Tommy Callahan, "a lot of people go to college for 7 years."
Marty started his professional career in sales. But he turned out to be the only guy in the office who understood how computers worked in the late 70's, and he spent the next 40+ years as a systems analyst for companies like Chase and Prudential.
Marty's true calling was being a dad. He was kind, loving, and barely yelled at his kids for holding a flashlight wrong or for handing him the wrong wrench. He was never too busy to play catch or just talk about your day. He listened and he cared. There is nothing he wouldn't do for his children.
Marty met his late wife Ellen at work in 1977. They eventually settled down in Norwood, NJ in 1982 where they raised their two mediocre children and some really great dogs. After Marty's retirement, the pair moved to Allentown, PA to be closer to their beloved grandchildren.
An avid sports fan, you would be hard pressed to find a Sunday in the fall when Marty wasn't yelling at the Giants offensive line or a spring afternoon begging a Yankee to hit an opposite field single instead of "swinging from their ankles."
Generous to a fault at times, there is nothing Marty wouldn't do for his people. And everyone was his people. He was simply a good person who will be missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him. Everyone liked Marty, and Marty liked everyone right back.
Marty leaves behind his daughter Suzanne Hilton, son-in-law Will Hilton, their children Maeve and James, his son Mark Remore, daughter-in-law Abby Remore, and his large extended family. He is predeceased by his wife Ellie (Plover) Remore, his parents Martin and Amelia Remore, and his dear sister Susan O'Neil.
A private memorial will be held at a later date, as Marty donated his remains for scientific research (because of course he did). His family would like to thank all of his caregivers at Arden Courts in Allentown and his hospice nurse, Sheila.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or the animal rescue organization of your choice. (If you're looking for a rescue idea, the owners of Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve graciously adopted Marty's last beloved dog - https://tamerlaine.org/).
In a world seemingly filled with greed, selfishness, hatred, and cold-heartedness - be like Marty instead.
