Mary Elizabeth (DeTellis) Antonino died peacefully on February 20, 2026 at the age of 90. She was born on April 25, 1935 in South Boston, Massachusetts to her parents, Michele DeTellis and Maria (Baldassarre) DeTellis from Bari, Italy. Mary was a twin to her brother George, and they were the youngest of seven children.
Mary was married for 41 years to Daniel Joseph Antonino until his passing in 1994. Together, they had four children and built a full life in the City of Boston and on the South Shore surrounded by beloved family and friends.
Mary was a loving, cherished and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother aka GG. She enthusiastically loved and celebrated life with her family and many treasured friends, with her pride and joy being her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary enjoyed long days at the beach, playing tennis, golf and bridge, travel adventures, wintering in Venice, Florida with her partner of over 20 years, Jeremiah Seely, and a good glass of wine. Mary showed love to her family and friends by creating delicious Italian meals, gathering her loved ones together, and sharing enduring love and support.
Mary attended Boston Public Schools, frequently referred to herself as a "tomboy" growing up on the streets of Boston, proudly took classes at UMass Boston after its doors opened in 1974 on Columbia Point, and worked at the Charles Taylor Elementary School in the Mattapan section of Boston.
After moving from Boston to the South Shore in 1977, Mary began working for Jack Conway Real Estate Company. She enjoyed a successful career as a top seller, and retired as the well-respected Manager of the Norwell Office for Jack Conway Real Estate.
Mary is survived by her children, Jeanne Antonino, James Antonino, Joan Antonino, and Daniel Antonino, and their spouses; her six grandchildren with whom she enjoyed deep and meaningful relationships, James, Sara, Jenna, Carina, Alexis, and Matthew, and their spouses; and her three great granddaughters, Eliana, Madalena (Lena), and Noemi.
In addition to her parents and twin brother, George DeTellis, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Guy DeTellis, Nicolas DeTellis, and sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Stupelis, Edith Kennedy, and Frances Roman.
Mary and her loving nature will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
