Mary Jane McNeill Holman, age 85, died peacefully in Nashville, TN, on Jan. 23, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Mary Jane was born in Lumberton, NC, on July 20, 1940 to Vernon McNeill, Sr., and Mary Davis McNeill. She was a 1958 graduate of Lumberton High School and graduated from UNC Greensboro in 1962. She settled in Nashville in 2009, and was active at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Franklin, TN, until her health made it difficult to attend. She was very close to her church community, and continued to find ways to give back through acts of service. Her kindness touched the hearts of everyone who met her.
She is survived and missed very much by her three children, Christy Holman Simons, Dr. Russell L. Holman III, and Paige Holman (Carter Hassebroek), six grandchildren, and her brother Vernon McNeill Jr. and his wife Cindy. Spending time with her family was one of Mary Jane's greatest sources of joy.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, with a private burial to follow at the family plot at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.
