Send Flowers
In Loving Memory of Mary Lisonbee Jones
August 11, 1944 – October 6, 2025

With hearts full of gratitude for her timeless legacy, we share that our beloved Mary passed into eternity on October 6, 2025, surrounded by family.

Mary Louise Lisonbee was born August 11, 1944, in Washington, D.C., to Bird Lisonbee and Ethel Thomas. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she met her future husband, Dale Bradford Jones, while directing a musical. She surprised him by joining him onstage, taking his hand, and singing with him. Given her educational goals, Dale recalls wondering if a farmer and a rocket scientist could even be compatible. They wed in the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 7, 1965. For 60 cherished years, they nurtured a life of joy and faith, raising six children in a home that echoed with laughter and love, weaving memories of togetherness that will live on.

After her youngest began school, Mary resumed studies at James Madison University, earning a bachelor’s degree and beginning a professional career. Throughout this time, she excelled as a homemaker, serving her church and community while honing talents in music, art, photography, sewing, and more. She could debug a submarine navigation system or decorate a wedding cake with equal skill. Before her passing she expressed her desire to be donated for medical research to benefit future generations. She has since returned to school at the Georgetown University School of Medicine Anatomical Donor Program.

She is survived by her husband, Dale; children: Gregory (Barb), Preston (Lara), Jared (Rachel), Heather Bradbury (Kevin), Benjamin (Denise), and Grayson; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Amy Barlow, Roberta Szoka, and Virginia Whittaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Amy Conis, and grandson Mason Jones.

A devout follower of Jesus Christ, Mary’s faith led her in quiet strength that shone in all she did, guiding family and friends toward the Savior’s hope and boundless grace. We invite you to join us in celebrating her life on November 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 C Jones Rd, Sunderland, MD 20689. The service will be broadcast remotely for those unable to attend at https://bit.ly/calvertwardmain.
