Mary Lou Cummings

Mary Lou Cummings, 84, passed peacefully on February 25, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family and the presence of God.

She was the beloved wife of Desmond Cummings, Jr., with whom she shared 60 years of joyful marriage.

Born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Mary Lou graduated in 1965 from Southern Adventist University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She faithfully lived out her calling to serve others through a lifetime in healthcare ministry. As Director of the Women's Health Project at AdventHealth Celebration, she helped launch the Breast Screening Center, Women's Interfaith Prayer Celebration, Parish Nursing, and Incontinence Services—impacting countless lives through compassionate care.

A founding member of Celebration Seventh-day Adventist Church and Creation Village World School, Mary Lou's faith in God guided every step of her life. Her grace, warmth, and deep love for others drew people to her, and her life reflected Christ's healing ministry in both word and action.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Desmond ("Des"); her daughter Tracy Beaulieu and her husband Denis, and grandchildren Kelsey and DJ; and her son Derek Cummings and his wife Nalani, and grandchildren Adrielle and Emilia.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11 at 3:30 PM at the Nicholson Center at AdventHealth Celebration.
