Mary Lou Wieczorek (née Davis), age 87, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in North Fort Myers, Florida with her son and daughter at her side holding her hands. She was born on July 26, 1938, in Brookfield, Wisconsin, to the late Waldo and Luella Davis. Mary Lou lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends.
Mary Lou dedicated many years of her career as an Admission Representative at Lee Health in Fort Myers. Her warm and welcoming smile undoubtedly left a lasting impression on those she encountered during her professional life. After retiring at the age of 65, she embraced the opportunity to spend precious time with her beloved husband and family—a decision that brought her immense joy.
Mary Lou was a wonderful and loving mother who cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her children: Cheryl Abraham, John Abraham, Kim (Mark) Merriman, and Kathy Sayles. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Danyl (Joe) Leinstock, Bree (Alma) Bergsrud, Matthew (Breana) Merriman, Michael (Emily) Merriman, Derek Wieczorek, Justin Wieczorek, and Kaeden Sayles; as well as her great-grandchildren: Keaton Abraham, Jovanni Bergsrud, Angelo Bergsrud, Hunter Merriman, Evelynn Merriman, Ryleigh Merriman, Leevi Merriman, and Skylynn Merriman. Mary Lou also leaves behind many other cherished relatives, friends, and her precious dog Teddy—fondly called T.T.—who brought her endless joy on a daily basis.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Mitchell L. Wieczorek Jr., her son Mitchell Wieczorek, daughter Kristine Schabla, and five brothers.
Mary Lou had a passion for cooking and baking that extended far beyond her kitchen. She often shared her culinary creations with family members, friends, and neighbors alike—a testament to her generous spirit. Her hobbies also included crocheting intricate designs and solving word search puzzles. One of Mary Lou’s favorite pastimes was playing cribbage daily with her husband; these moments of companionship were among the many treasured memories they shared.
Known for her big heart and selflessness, Mary Lou had a remarkable ability to connect with people everywhere she went. Her warm smile often sparked conversations that turned strangers into friends. She constantly put others before herself and touched countless lives with her kindness.
Though she is gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts. As we grieve this profound loss, we are reminded that grief is the price we pay for having loved so deeply.
