Mary Jane (Powers) Vines

Mary Jane (Powers) Vines, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, just one day shy of her 76th birthday. Born on April 11, 1950, Mary Jane lived a life defined by love, resilience, and a strength that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

One of Mary Jane’s proudest accomplishments was earning her Registered Nursing degree from Mesa Community College—a milestone that reflected her determination, compassion, and deep desire to care for others. It was during one of her nursing shifts that fate gently intervened, leading her to meet Larry Leroy Lacey, whom she always held steadfast was her one and only true love.

She will be remembered for her love of music, especially the time she spent singing with Up with People, as well as anything and everything show tunes or romance novels. She was an avid reader who found great joy in the works of her two favorite authors, John Grisham and Nora Roberts. Her quick wit and dry sense of humor will leave lasting impressions in the hearts of family and friends alike.

Mary Jane was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend. Her legacy lives on through her son, Brent Powers of Gold Canyon, Arizona, who carries forward her spirit of service and devotion to others, her daughter, Keri Vines, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister Patricia Oso of Mesa, Arizona, and nephew Gabriel Oso.

Mary Jane’s life was a gift to all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
