MARY SHUKMAN

Mary Kathleen "Kathie" Shukman (née Barajas) passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Gilbert, Arizona, at the age of 76. Born on August 22, 1949, in Bagdad, Arizona, Kathie lived a life guided by faith and kindness.

A proud graduate of Westwood High School in 1967, Kathie went on to build a successful career as a claims adjuster with Scottsdale Insurance. Her strong work ethic were evident throughout her professional journey. Her dedication and professionalism were hallmarks of her work, earning her the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Kathie was a devout Catholic whose faith was the cornerstone of her life. It allowed her to find solace and strength. She embodied selflessness and compassion in her daily actions, offering comfort and light to those around her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her beliefs left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She found immense joy in the companionship of her beloved pets Charcoal, Tuffy, Taco, Beanie, and Gracie who brought love and laughter into her life. Kathie also delighted in embracing life's simple pleasures with enthusiasm and grace.

Kathie is survived by her sisters Gloria Lopez and Margaret Barajas; her brother Edward Barajas: and her uncle Frank Barajas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Herbert Shukman and her parents Lola Ruiz Barajas and Norberto Barajas. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

A Funeral Mass to honor Kathie Shukman will be held on March 19, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 1551 E. Dana Ave., Mesa, Arizona. The Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
