Mary Ingraham Westcott, beloved mother, neighbor, and longtime resident of Mamaroneck, NY, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born on March 1, 1931, Mary lived a life defined by quiet strength, devotion to her family, and a genuine kindness she extended to everyone she met.
Mary was the daughter of Mary Whitman Ingraham and Edgar Blakely Ingraham, and grew up in a household shaped by the Depression, hard work, education, and arich heritage. She
has been preceded by her brothers, Whitman and Alan and her sister, Jane. Her maternal grandparents were members of the Whitman family of Amherst, MA.
In 1950, she married Jack Westcott of Mamaroneck, and together they raised four children: John, Diane, David, and Richard.
Later years brought challenges, a separation, and eventually
divorce in 1970. These struggles, along with her newfound love of painting, became turning points in her life. Through it all, Mary's devotion to her children and her faith remained
unwavering.
She often spoke of her mother's strong and steady influence, her father's love of reading and education, and the importance of trusting in God. She liked to say, "When one door closes, another one opens," a reflection of her belief in resilience, grace, and the possibilities within change.
Her advice to her children was simple but powerful: never give up, recognize your strengths, and pass along the good things you've been given.
Mary will be remembered for her resilience, her warmth, and the steadfast love she offered to family and friends.
There will be a memorial service on November 24th, 9:30am at Carmon community Funeral Homes, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, CT 06095.
Her burial service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery on November 24th, Noon. 70 Strong Street, Amherst, MA 01002.
All our welcome.
