Our beloved Maryann passed away in FL, on March 2, where she was having the time of her life, of heart failure at age 69. Maryann is survived by her husband Chris Hewitt, sister Kathy of Newton, MA brother Dennis (Bridget) of Tumnahulla, Ireland, her niece Molly Petrin (Steve), beautiful grand nephews and niece; Lincoln, Scarlett and Connor Petrin, Marykate Killilea (Damien Hannon) of Headford, Ireland, Pakie and Ali Killilea of Tumnahulla, Ireland and nephews Greg, Tim, Danny and Ryan Killilea in addition to many, many, many cherished and devoted friends near and far and her young shining stars who knew her as Mimi; Olivia Capulli, Siobhan O’Neill, Brianna Gallagher and Clara and Ada Mustonen, to name a few.
Maryann was the most compassionate, kind and generous soul and was loved by all who met her, knew her and wished they knew her better. She was the person who would go out of her way to help and support her friends and family and strangers, too. She was the glue who held everyone together, she was the rock you could lean on, she lived fiercely and joyfully. The ripples of her kindness go far and wide and the world was truly a better place with Maryann in it. Maryann worked at Fernald State School for over 30 years, she was a fierce advocate for her “guys” whom she continued to care for until her death. She was the ultimate caregiver and helped care for many friend’s families in times of need and ill health. There’s an Irish saying: “Ni bheidh a leithead aris ann” - There will never be another one like her. Please be kind to one another, be tolerant and have compassion and understanding. And please raise a glass to Maryann - Slainté and Peace.
Her ashes will be spread at her family home in Ireland, and on the different beaches she loved later this year. Please make a donation to a charity that helps people and that makes the world a little more tolerant or just forward a kindness every day.
