Larson, Maryannette Grace
Maryannette Larson passed away peacefully embraced by the love of her family on the evening of Sunday, January 18, 2026, at The Fountainview Center. A private Funeral Mass will be held at the D'Youville Chapel of The Cathedral of Christ the King on Saturday, January 31st.
Mary was born on June 29, 1927, in Jersey City, NJ to Catherine and Thomas Reddy. Her family soon moved to the Bronx, NY where she grew up with her younger brother Billy surrounded by their close-knit family. A bright student, Mary graduated as the valedictorian of Saint Simon Stock High School. To help support her family, she immediately entered the workforce, serving as a stenographer for W.H. Edgar and Son and later at Texaco Oil Company.
On September 17, 1949, she married Stan Larson, a fellow graduate of Saint Simon Stock. Together, Mary and Stan built a wonderful life filled with laughter, children, and a succession of beloved dogs. They moved from "the big city" to Peekskill, New York, and remained in the same neighborhood for 15 years, raising their five children on a street alive with the sounds of youngsters playing. In 1971 the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia where they put down new roots and found another special community of good friends and neighbors.
Having always wanted to be a teacher, Mary took the opportunity to teach religion classes for children at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Stone Mountain. Once her children were grown, Mary began a second career as a real estate agent for Century 21. In time, both she and Stan enjoyed retirement, surrounded by the love of their ever-growing family.
Mary was a steadfast friend, a kind neighbor, and a devout Catholic. She expressed her love generously through her cooking. Her lasagna, Swedish meatballs, and German apple cake were her hugs and "I love yous". Her family, as well as neighbors and friends, always looked forward to Mary's Christmas cookies. A talented seamstress, she took pride in creating beautiful Easter outfits for her four daughters as well as for herself. She also made draperies and even reupholstered furniture, keeping her home inviting and warm. Home was indeed where Mary's heart was - always.
Mary is survived by five children: Catherine Larson (husband Tim Bryson), Anne Marie Hall (husband Frank), Joseph Larson, Janet Brown (husband Chris), Mary Beth Buck (husband Alex); six grandchildren: Genna Hall (husband Nimit Shah), Tim Hall (wife Jessie), Gavin Brown (wife Kassie), Emmy Buck, Addy Buck, Eiler Buck; and two great grandchildren: Larson Hall and Layla Hall-Shah.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you give a loved one a hug or better yet, bake them something special. Donations in her honor may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Georgia at
