Matthew Bucher, 48, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Born on September 14, 1977, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Matthew lived a life filled with kindness, and a love for connecting with others.

Matthew discovered his passion for cooking and turned it into a thriving business in Mesilla, New Mexico. Alongside his sister Sarah, he ran an open window kitchen restaurant that became a local favorite. For Matthew, the restaurant was more than just a business—it was a space where customers often became close friends. He truly loved these connections and found joy in chatting with everyone and sharing laughter.

Outside of his career, Matthew had a deep love for cars. Learning everything he could about them he took pride in his extensive knowledge of the subject. A traveler at heart, he was often planning adventures to his favorite destination—Las Vegas, Nevada. Each trip he wanted to try something new and experience all he could.

Matthew’s warmth and humor left an indelible mark on those who knew him. He had a gift for conversation and delighted in making people laugh. His kind-hearted nature made him a cherished presence in the lives of many.

He is survived by his sister Paulette Ortiz and her husband Victor Ortiz; his nephew Paul Ortiz and niece Victoria Ortiz; his sister Sarah Bucher; and his nephew Max Bucher. Also the numerous relatives in his home state of Indiana. Matthew was predeceased by his maternal and fraternal grandparents as well as his parents, Merle and Paula Bucher.

Services and memorials to honor Matthew’s life will be announced at a later date.
