Matthew James Coconis, aged 53, passed away on December 14, 2025, in Aurora, CO. Born on September 14, 1972, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Matthew grew into a skilled craftsman and a talented drummer, known for his precision and creativity both in his trade and his music.
Matthew attended Chelmsford public schools, where he first developed his passion for music. His career as a drummer with the band Acoustic Junction brought him across the United States and his drumming style garnered him the nickname, Animal. In addition to his musical career, Matthew was the proud owner of Coconis Carpentry.
In his personal life, Matthew was a deeply religious individual who found solace and strength in his faith.
Matthew is survived by his sisters, Deborah and Anita (Jim); brothers, David (Linda) and Thomas; and nephews, Eliakim and William. He was preceded in death by his father, James, mother, Ann Elaine, and brother-in-law, Jeff.
Burial service for Matthew will be private.
